Step-out drilling to assess the scale potential of Warriedar’s Murchison gold tenure in Western Australia has moved up a gear with a second rig now operating.

This reverse circulation rig will initially test beneath and along strike from the existing Baron deposit within the Fields Find project, the first significant drilling to target primary gold at this location in over seven years.

First assays from this drilling are expected by late April with Warriedar Resources (ASX:WA8) adding that the first RC rig continues to drill key targets just a stone’s throw away to the west at the Golden Range project.

All this activity is part of the overall 40,000m drill program that the company is conducting across its Murchison projects this year.

The current 10,000m Phase 1 drill program is aimed at increasing resources by targeting primary gold mineralisation zones while the remaining 30,000m will test a range of resource extension, brownfields and greenfields targets.

Clear and present gold potential

Warriedar’s eagerness to uncover further resources at its Murchison projects is based on a simple premise – that there is strong potential for further growth to the existing mineralisation present at both Golden Range and Fields Find.

After all, the two fields had historical gold production of about 350,000oz from shallower oxide material while Golden Range is the proud host of a 945,000oz resource, of which 461,000oz is in the high confidence Measured and Indicated categories.

Despite this clear potential, processing constraints meant previous owners weren’t looking for fresh rock below oxide resources – an oversight that the company intends to address with its drill program.

There are already clear signs that Warriedar is on the right track with assays from the first holes at Golden Range returning intercepts such as 4m grading 5.17 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a down-hole depth of 52m, 8m at 2.27g/t gold from 235m and 4m at 2.56g/t gold from 259m.
