- Koonenberry Gold strikes visible gold at depth beneath its Sunnyside gold discovery in NSW
- It comes at the start of a 10,000m Phase 2 drill program at the Enmore project
- Gold mineralisation now extends to 425m at depth and remains open in multiple directions
Special Report: Paired together they’re two of the most beautiful words in the English language – VISIBLE GOLD – and it’s something Koonenberry is finding in abundance at its Enmore project in northeast NSW.
The presence of visible gold doesn’t guarantee high grades, but it can be a pointer to the sort of jewellery box discoveries that make a gold deposit really shine.
The importance of the latest VG hits for Koonenberry Gold (ASX:KNB) is that even before assays are returned, the explorer knows the gold mineralisation at Enmore extends some 210m beneath the limit of previous drilling.
That’s a significant amount of gold-enriched material within a project only starting to show its true potential under Koonenberry’s ownership.
Drilled within the Sunnyside prospect, the VG intersections in 25ENDD011 and 012 are located beneath 25ENDD003, a diamond drill hole that returned 102m at 1.1g/t Au from 184-286m, including 44m at 1.77g/t Au from 235-279m, including 9.7m at 3.57g/t.
Alteration extends 210m vertically beneath 25ENDD003, with the whole system now shown to run 425m deep. Initial indications are that it’s also widening at depth.

Just getting started
This has come from the first two holes of a 10,000m drill program, with plenty more news flow on the way.
“We have kicked off our Phase II diamond drill program at Sunnyside with more visible gold zones observed in the first two holes of the program,” KNB managing director Dan Power said.
“Significantly we are seeing alteration, veining and sulphides to 425m depth, indicating that mineralisation likely extends a further 210m vertically underneath 25ENDD003. The diamond drill rig will continue to systematically test for extensions to the Sunnyside system at depth and along strike as part of the 10,000m program.
“To the east, the RC drill rig is currently testing for repetitions of the mineralisation along the Sunnyside Shear Zone towards the Hand in Hand Prospect. This work is ongoing and is fully funded by our $7.8M cash position as of 30/09/2025.”
Visible gold, which many geologists go a lifetime without seeing in the wild, was intersected in several locations in the two holes, confirming the geological model Koonenberry has developed.
It says granite is the preferred host rock, with mineralisation controlled both along the shear zone and second-order structures. In other words, KNB has a strong sense of where to drill to hit new mineralisation.
Assay results from a maiden drill program under KNB in the first half of 2025 grew the Sunnyside gold system to 75m true width, 300m vertical depth and 250m strike.
It remains open both up-dip, at depth and along strike.
Results from that phase have underpinned planning for the current Phase II program, with the company also testing 2km of open strike to the east of the main Sunnyside discovery, where wide-spaced shallow historical drilling contained anomalous gold.
Enmore is one of a number of high-quality gold and copper assets owned by Koonenberry across NSW, including the Junee and Fairholme JVs, where gold giant Newmont is pouring millions into exploration.
The former is located just 20km south of the 1.7Moz Hillgrove gold and antimony mine, recently the subject of a rejected $768 million bid by US Antimony Corp.
