Special Report: Uvre has started maiden drilling at its Waitekauri gold project in New Zealand focusing on the Jubilee mine where historical trenching returned up to 80g/t.
The brownfields project hosts multiple historic gold mines – including Jubilee, Scotia and Sovereign – and is in a richly endowed epithermal gold district within the prolific Hauraki Goldfield which has been home to more than 50 epithermal mines since the 1860s, producing +15Moz of gold and 60Moz of silver.
As well, the project’s eastern tenement boundary sits just 1km from OceanaGold Corp’s Waihi mine, which has produced +12Moz to date.
It’s also smack bang in the centre of a heavily mineralised structural corridor home to four +1Moz gold deposits.
Historical underground trenching at Jubilee by Cyprus Gold NZ in 1991 delivered significant high-grade assay results including 13m at 80g/t Au, 24m at 45g/t and 23m at 42g/t.
More recent rock chip assays at Jubilee by Uvre (ASX:UVA) returned up to 18.4g/t Au.
In a diamond drilling campaign, UVA will target bonanza-style gold-silver low sulphidation veins with the hopes of identifying a multi-million-ounce resource.
Uvre says the 2019 definition of high-grade zones at OceanaGold’s WKP deposit, which hosts 2.2Moz Au at 14.3g/t gold and 3.1Moz silver, supports its view that the area is highly prospective for gold.

Looking for major gold discovery
The first hole of the 3250m diamond drilling program has started at the Scotia South prospect, targeting recently identified untested outcropping epithermal quartz occurrences.
The second hole will target high-grade mineralisation identified by previous explorers at Scotia, about 50m downdip from historical intercepts.
After completing drilling at Scotia South, the rig will immediately move to drill eight holes at the brownfields Jubilee gold project.
“We are absolutely delighted to have our inaugural drilling program now underway at
Waitekauri, providing our first insight into the project’s resource potential,” executive chairman Brett Mitchell said.
“Given the Waitekauri Project’s location in a world-class gold mining district surrounded by multi-million-ounce deposits, and given the extensive database of historical high-grade operations, we believe it offers outstanding potential for Uvre to deliver a major new gold discovery for Uvre shareholders.
“Initial assay results from the drilling program are expected to be received in the December quarter, providing a strong stream of news flow for shareholders as we head into 2026.”
The company is well-funded for exploration at the project, with ~$5.4m cash in the bank.
