• Torque Metals restarts drilling at its Paris gold project to infill and extend existing gold lodes
  • 8000m of RC and 1000m of diamond drilling will focus on Paris West and the recently discovered Eva prospect
  • Drilling will contribute to upcoming maiden resource estimate

Special Report: Drilling has resumed at Torque Metals’ Paris gold project in WA’s Goldfields region with the goal of infilling and extending existing gold lodes ahead of a maiden resource estimate.

This drilling is being conducted by contractor Topdrill under a drill for equity agreement that allows the company to satisfy up to 50% of the costs – to a cap of $1m – through the issue of new shares.

Previous drilling, which had been carried out under a similar agreement, had proved up Torque Metals’ (ASX:TOR) belief that Paris hosts a large gold camp.

Notable intersections from this earlier work were:

  • 5m grading 14.12g/t gold from a down-hole depth of 157.85m, including 2.49m at 40.6g/t gold from 167.8m in hole 23PRCDD076; and
  • 41m at 5.93g/t gold from 188m and 2m at 59.35g/t gold from 204m in 22PRC056.

To top it off, drilling at the previously untested 1.5km gap – the Eva discovery – between the HHH and Paris pits provided evidence that they are connected after returning assays topping up at 16m at 4.19g/t gold from 66m.

Infill and extension drilling

The 9000m drill program (8000m reverse circulation and 1000m diamond) will infill and extend mineralisation in Paris West and the recently discovered Eva prospect.

Drilling is expected to be completed by late August with assays to be reported progressively from mid-August.

“A 9000-metre diamond and reverse circulation drilling campaign has commenced at Torque’s flagship Paris Gold Project. Paris potentially hosts multiple deposits within a larger mineralised system, currently spanning 2.5 km by 1 km and remaining open in all directions,” managing director Cristian Moreno said.

“Paris exhibits the characteristics of a robust gold project, as it lies on a major geological fault, Boulder-Lefroy fault, which hosts some world-class deposits such as St. Ives Gold Mine and Northern Star’s Super Pit.

“This potential is reinforced by strong gold intercepts, including 35 metres at 14.12 g/t gold from 157.85 meters, 41metres at 5.93 g/t gold from 188 metres, 16 metres at 4.19 g/t gold from 66 metres, among other intersections, along with impressive gold recoveries exceeding 96%.”

Other activity

Besides the drilling, Torque will carry out a soils campaign on recently acquired tenements.

It will also define an exploration target that highlights further growth potential beyond the coming maiden resource estimate.
