• Drilling at Tesoro’s El Zorro project hits its highest ever grade of 924g/t gold at the Ternera deposit
  • Company further extends mineralised zone in the northern part of Ternera and extends Ternera East mineralisation
  • Drilling at El Zorro will continue over the coming months and assays are pending for five holes

Special Report: The latest round of drilling at Tesoro’s El Zorro project in Chile has yielded more high-grade gold hits including the highest grade ever recorded at the Ternera deposit at 924g/t.

This 0.5m wide intercept in hole ZDDH0349A sits within a thick, high-grade interval of 46.15m at 11.86g/t gold from a downhole depth of just 77.15m.

Notably, it is just one of multiple high-grade zones that Tesoro Gold’s (ASX:TSO) current infill and extensional drilling program has intersected in the northern area of the 1.3Moz Ternera deposit.

Adding further interest, drilling at Ternera East has also extended mineralisation after returning intercepts such as 24.4m at 0.75g/t gold from 79.6m and 10.5m at 1.61g/t gold from 214m in ZDDH0344.

“The exceptional results from hole ZDDH0349A have significantly expanded the mineralised zone in the northern part of the Ternera mineral resource boundary,” Managing Director Zeff Reeves said.

“This clearly demonstrates the potential to add additional resource ounces with further infill and extensional drilling at the deposit. Achieving the highest ever assay from drilling at Ternera – 924g/t Au – highlights the very high-grade nature of the wide, continuous gold zones within the deposit.

“These results, combined with the additional positive outcomes from the Ternera East zone, demonstrate the potential to continue expanding the known gold at El Zorro. The current drill program will continue over the coming months.”

Current drilling

Tesoro’s current diamond drilling program targets key areas within 1.5km of the existing 1.3Moz Ternera deposit in addition to infill and extending the Resource.

Results have been received from eight extensional holes and one infill hole to date.

Hole ZDDH349A is part of the infill program designed to improve Resource classification and extend known mineralised zones within the northern area of the deposit.

Positive drill results were also received from an additional hole at the recent Drone Hill discovery, five holes from Ternera East, and one hole from Toro Blanco.

All holes at Ternera East intersected the target El Zorro Tonalite lithology, delineating a significant new gold zone over a strike length of ~300m.

These results will support the initial 3D modelling of the Ternera East zone, which is currently interpreted to be a fault offset of the main Ternera deposit, for further drilling.

Ternera East was discovered earlier this year after first pass drilling returned notable assays of 49.5m at 0.55g/t gold from 179m and 36m at 1g/t gold from 281.5m.

Drilling at El Zorro will continue over the coming months and assays are pending for five holes.
