• A 5000m Phase 2 RC program has kicked off across Dante
  • Phase 1 diamond drilling has wrapped up, with assay results expected shortly
  • Drilling of new targets previously identified through review of datasets and mapping will take place after

Special Report: A 5000m Phase 2 reverse circulation drill campaign has launched across Terra Metals’ Dante Reefs discovery in WA just as Phase 1 diamond drilling wraps up.

Terra Metals (ASX:TM1) has been homing in on at least two Platreef-style reefs at the Dante discovery in WA’s West Musgrave region, which are a series of gentle dipping mineralised layers that outcrop from surface and run for 42km in total.

Results to date indicate that the Dante Reefs boast potential to host a large sulphide deposit containing copper, gold and PGEs as well as high-grade vanadium and titanium, two important ingredients in the make-up of renewable batteries and specialty steel.

Collectively, the West Musgrave region hosts more than two and a half million tonnes of copper and comes with the added bonus of major de-risking by BHP, which intends to develop processing facilities, a tailings storage facility, accommodation, airstrip and power infrastructure.

Huge potential scale

A Phase 1 diamond drilling program of 18-holes for ~2700m across both Reef 1 and 2 discoveries has wrapped up with Phase 2 infill and extensional RC drilling now underway.

Topdrill will carry out the drilling campaign, which will also include some reconnaissance drilling in new areas to test interpreted extensions of the Dante Reefs.

TM1 managing director and CEO Thomas Line said the company’s technical team have been busy completing the diamond drilling program and preparing for the next stage.

“Despite the wide spacing of the previous Phase 1 RC drill program, we were able to define a large copper-platinum and gold sulphide discovery from surface spanning over 20km of strike at Reef 1 and 2, highlighting the potential scale of the deposit,” he said.

“We are now eager to begin drill testing of new copper-platinum-gold targets, previously identified through review of geochemical and geophysical datasets and mapping.

“These include untested outcropping reefs and geochemical-geophysical anomalies defined across the project.”

Phase 1 diamond core assay results are expected over the coming weeks, following completion of the 2500m 17-hole drill program.
