Taruga Minerals unearths 1km-long gold-copper strike at Uaroo East

  • TAR flags 1km gold-copper strike at newly discovered Uaroo Ridge prospect
  • Prospect forms part of Uaroo East project, about 5km north of Thowagee workings
  • Rock chips show consistent gold and copper anomalism

Special Report: Taruga Minerals has uncovered a new 1km-long gold and copper strike at the Uaroo Ridge prospect within its Uaroo East project in Western Australia.

The discovery sits about 5km north of the company’s recent field activity at Thowagee and forms part of the recently granted Uaroo East tenure.

Rock chipping along an outcropping quartz ridge has revealed consistent gold and copper anomalism, including standout results including:

  • 0.5g/t gold and 0.4% copper;
  • 0.5g/t gold and 0.1% copper;
  • 0.4g/t gold and 0.4% copper;
  • 0.1g/t gold and 1.0% copper;
  • 0.2g/t gold and 0.6% copper, and;
  • 0.7% copper.

Taruga Minerals (ASX:TAR) says there is no previous recording of this mineralised prospect found in WAMEX historical records, underlining its potential as a new discovery within a largely underexplored region.

Underexplored ground with discovery potential

Given the low-resolution regional geophysical data available across the eastern part of the Uaroo licences, Taruga plans detailed magnetic and gravity surveys to define subsurface structures and prioritise targets.

Soil sampling grids will also be established to map the extent of gold and base metal anomalism laterally and along strike of the exposed quartz ridges.

“The Uaroo Ridge prospect was identified on our maiden field reconnaissance program, with copper minerals malachite and chalcopyrite visible in surface outcrop,” director David Chapman said.

“This new prospect has not been identified in WAMEX records, which speaks to the under explored nature of this 416km2 tenement package, and more broadly the entire Gascoyne province.”

At the nearby Thowagee prospect, soil and rock chip sampling along with geophysical surveys have now all been completed, with results pending.
