Strickland has kicked off a long-awaited drill program over its flagship Yandal gold project in Western Australia after securing native title heritage survey clearance.

The company already has two rigs, one reverse circulation and one diamond, carrying out an aggressive campaign that is expected to be carried out over the rest of 2022.

A second RC rig will arrive in late February or early March to accelerate work while an aircore rig will be mobilised around the middle of the year to undertake a large program.

Strickland Metals (ASX:STK) also expects to deliver a substantial upgrade to the current resource of 11.7Mt grading 1.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, or 603,000oz of contained gold.

“We are thrilled to be commencing such a substantial program over our gold targets at the Company’s flagship Yandal Project,” chief executive officer Andrew Bray.

“This program has been around eight months in planning, including initial program design, native title heritage clearance, securing drill rigs, and retaining sufficient personnel to staff the programs on site.

“It’s going to be a very exciting year for Strickland given the large number of metres we’ll drill over very promising targets.”

Drill targets

The initial drilling will comprise 23,000m of RC and 8,000m of diamond drilling to expand resources at the Millrose deposit.

This will prioritise the infill drilling of the gap between the southern and northern resource domains with RC drilling, along strike extensions to the north and south as identified in the geophysical and geochemical datasets, and depth extensions to understand the potential for underground mining.

Drilling will also seek to further define extensive, near-surface laterite mineralisation as well as test parallel trends to the west of the main defined shear zone.

It follows the company receiving heritage clearance last week for Millrose and numerous targets within the Dusk til Dawn and Big Daddy trends.

Further surveys are planned this year to clear other high priority targets such as Iroquois.
