• Extensional hole MR24-189A has intersected average pXRF readings of 63g/t silver over 12.19m
  • A standout result of 605 g/t silver was intersected outside the resource
  • Samples will be sent to the American Assay Labs (AAL) in Reno for multi-element analysis

Special Report: Sun Silver has intersected 605 g/t silver at the Maverick Springs project in Nevada, based on pXRF readings in extensional hole MR24-191.

Sun Silver (ASX:SS1) has been carrying out an inaugural drilling campaign at the Maverick Springs silver-gold property since early July, targeting high-grade zones interpreted to trend to the northwest of the resource boundary along with infill drilling.

The first extensional hole of the program pulled up a stand-out intersection of 41.15m at 126 g/t silver equivalent, including 13.42m at 331.76 g/t silver equivalent from 246.89m, confirming the presence of high-grade silver mineralisation outside the resource.

Maverick Springs hosts a recently updated resource of 423Moz silver equivalent, making it the largest pure primary silver resource on the ASX.

But with mineralisation open in all directions, the company believes it is just the beginning of what could be a series of upgrades over the coming years.

Drilling hits 605 g/t silver and antimony

Another extensional hole has now turned up an impressive pXRF reading of 167 g/t silver over 9.14m from 284.99m, which includes 605 g/t silver over 1.52m.

Other readings such as 63 g/t silver over 12.19m from 278.89m, including 148 g/t silver over 3.05m from 284.99m, were also returned, as well as antimony readings of up to 1,327ppm antimony (Sb) in extensional hole MR24-191 over 1.5m from 227.08m.

SS1 used hand-held pXRF technology to analyse drill samples in real time, which allows for immediate on-site decisions to be made to adjust drilling strategies.

While pXRF readings provide a useful indication of mineral content, they are not a substitute for laboratory-derived assay grades. All drill intercepts will be sent to an independent laboratory for accurate analysis.

Confidence in further resource growth

“We are pleased to announce that our extensional drilling has continued to intersect high-grade mineralisation,” SS1 executive director Gerard O’Donovan said.

“This significant result not only highlights the immediate success of our drilling program but also bodes well for future resource expansion.

“These extensional holes complement the substantial increase to our mineral resource announced last week, reinforcing our confidence in the potential for further resource growth.”

Drilling samples will be sent to the American Assay Labs (AAL) in Reno for multi-element analysis.
