- Sipa Resources to carry out maiden exploration drilling at the Tunkillia North and Nuckulla Hill gold projects
- Drilling will infill and extend previously identified gold mineralisation at the Bimba and Sheoak prospects
- Heritage approvals have been received for the projects near Barton Gold’s 1.6Moz Tunkillia deposit
Special Report: Sipa Resources will next week launch maiden exploration drilling at its newly acquired Tunkillia North and Nuckulla Hill gold projects in South Australia.
This follows heritage approval of the survey for reverse circulation drilling of the projects.
The survey also covered a number of areas, meaning the approval is effective for several rounds of aircore and RC drilling.
Sipa Resources’ (ASX:SRI) imminent drill program will infill and extend previously identified gold mineralisation at the Bimba and Sheoak prospects within Nuckulla Hill, which is within the same shear zone that hosts Barton Gold’s (ASX:BGD) 1.6Moz Tunkillia gold deposit.
“The PEPR and heritage approvals clear the way for our maiden gold drilling programs in SA,” SRI managing director Andrew Muir said.
“Gold exploration and development activity continues to increase in SA. With strong sentiment towards both the commodity and region, we look forward to testing a number of quality targets near the 1.6Moz Tunkillia gold project within the highly mineralised Yarlbrinda Shear.”

Tunkillia North and Nuckulla Hill
SRI had acquired the Tunkillia North and Nuckulla Hill projects as part of a broader acquisition of gold assets in December 2025.
They host multiple advanced and large-scale gold prospects and cover ~40km of the Yarlbrinda shear zone – a 150km long and 12km wide structure that is analogous to the major Kalgoorlie Shear Zone in WA.
While exploration is still in its early phases, evidence has emerged that the Yarlbrinda Shear Zone extends from Barton’s Tunkillia deposit into Nuckulla Hill.
Both projects also host rock types similar to those at Barton’s Tunkillia deposit.
Should exploration at the two projects be successful, SRI could well leverage BGD’s efforts to fund and build a processing plant.
