Special report: Sipa Resources has kicked off a reverse circulation drilling program across the new Nuckulla Hill gold project in South Australia after contractors Bullion Drilling Co mobilised to site last weekend.
The 1800m infill drilling campaign will focus on extending gold mineralisation at the Bimba and Sheoak prospects, previously identified by calcrete sampling in the mid-1990s.
No further drilling has been carried out on the prospects since that time, although the mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike.
Sipa (ASX:SRI) acquired the Nuckulla Hill, Tunkillia North and Skye gold projects in February this year from Gawler Craton Pty Ltd.
The move allowed Sipa to ramp up gold exploration while diversifying its asset base to support continuous on-ground operations year-round.
Tunkillia North and Nuckulla Hill host multiple advanced, large-scale gold prospects, while Skye sits along strike from Barton Gold Holdings’ (ASX:BGD) Gold Bore resource and less than 50km from high-grade intersections generated by Marmota (ASX:MEU) at Aurora Tank.
The Bimba and Sheoak prospects at Nuckulla Hill sit within the Yarlbrinda Shear Zone, which hosts Barton Gold’s 1.6Moz Tunkillia gold deposit.
Nuckulla Hill contains around 40km of strike of this shear with only minimal drill testing completed to date.
Yarlbrinda Shear Zone is a major structure about 150km long and 12km wide and is analogous to the major Kalgoorlie Shear Zone in WA.

“Busy period of drilling”
SRI managing director Andrew Muir said the RC program at Nuckulla Hill started a busy period of drilling ahead for the company.
“The RC drilling will provide good insights into the grade, widths and extent of the mineralisation first identified in the 1990s but has had no further work in almost 30 years, even though it is contained within the highly prospective Yarlbrinda Shear,” he said.
“After the RC program, we will undertake aircore drilling at the Tunkillia North and Nuckulla Hill gold projects, which will test recently confirmed historical gold-in-calcrete anomalism and previous drilling.
“On-ground activities will then shift to the Crown Gold project in WA, where we have planned aircore drilling to follow up historical geochemical anomalies and historical RAB drilling.”
Drilling at Nuckulla Hill is expected to take between 7-10 days, with assays expected to be returned 4- 6 weeks after program completion.
