Singular Health makes key radiologist appointment to support 3DICOM US rollout

  • Singular Health appoints radiologist Dr Alex Alonso as approved US radiology expert
  • Appointment part of company’s binding enterprise agreement with Provider Network Solutions
  • Radiologist to provide clinical insights, guide product refinement and support 3DICOM’s US rollout

Special Report: Perth-based medtech Singular Health has appointed radiologist Dr Alex Alonso as the approved US radiology expert under its binding enterprise agreement with Provider Network Solutions (PNS).

Alonso brings more than 20 years of diagnostic imaging experience and will provide strategic input into the development of the Singular Health (ASX:SHG) 3DICOM software, ensuring it meets the needs and standards of US radiologists.

In addition to his advisory role, Alonso will deploy the 3DICOM solution at Life Radiology FL, a diagnostic centre he founded in Doral, Florida.

Life Radiology FL offers a full suite of advanced imaging services, including MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound and mammography, and serves the South Florida region, which has a population of more than seven million people.

The 3DICOM solution at Life Radiology FL will support early diagnostic workflows, PACS integration, secure image sharing and patient access tools.

Singular Health said it would support these efforts by contributing to integration and marketing costs.

Advancing US expansion

Together, Alonso’s strategic role through PNS and the independent deployment at Life Radiology FL mark significant steps in Singular Health’s US expansion.

The company said it combined clinical validation with on-the-ground expertise to deliver real-world radiology solutions.

Singular Health said the engagement with Alonso was for six months and he (or his nominee) would be issued US$27,000 worth of fully paid ordinary shares, calculated using the 14-day VWAP at the end of engagement, aligning his interests with those of shareholders.

More from Singular Health: Reinforcing its place in the US market

Successful collaboration with PNS

In November last year Singular Health announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with PNS to collaborate on a technical proof of concept and commercial pilot.

Founded in 1998, PNS is the leading management services organisation for specialty care in Florida, providing healthcare administration and benefits management for insurers, with recent expansion into Puerto Rico and Texas.

The two companies partnered up to use Singular Health’s 3DICOM software to streamline medical image sharing across different systems.

The goal was to reduce unnecessary duplicate imaging by primary care physicians, in turn improving efficiency and delivering better outcomes for patients.

The MOU has proven a success with PNS also a cornerstone investor in Singular Health.

The company also recently entered a binding US$1.3m enterprise agreement with PNS for a co-designed pilot program to deploy and implement its technology within PNS’s primary care physician network in Puerto Rico, Florida and Texas.

‘Huge potential in US market’

Managing director and CEO Denning Chong said Alonso’s appointment was an exciting appointment for Singular Health.

“Dr Alonso is a renowned radiologist in Florida with his own specialist radiologist centre,” he said.

Chong emphasised Alonso brought not just deep clinical experience, but a real-world understanding of how imaging and duplicate imaging occurs in practice, particularly in the US.

“Having Dr Alonso onboard as an approved US radiological architect with respect to our partnership with PNS is a big win for us,” he said.

“And the fact that he’s also commissioned and deploying our 3DICOM at his own centre, Life Radiology FL, solidifies his belief in 3DICOM.

“That kind of backing and validation, from someone who’s seen it all and who is heavily involved in the medical imaging industry, is incredible, as we push forward nationally in the US”

For his part, Alonso noted he was excited to be working with the team at Singular Health and was impressed by the 3DICOM platform.

“What they’ve built with 3DICOM and the 3DICOM solution is incredibly impressive – this is technology that doesn’t just look good on paper, it actually solves real problems that radiologists and patients face every day,” he said.

“The 3DICOM platform has huge potential in the US market, especially nationally, and I do see a real pathway to have this rolled out everywhere in USA as we move toward more connected, patient-focused care.

“I’m looking forward to helping shape its growth and enjoying the benefits of what the 3DICOM solution brings to a real clinical environment like our own.”
