Sheoak yields up to 25.4g/t gold for Auravelle Metals at Nuckulla Hill

  • AUV returns up to 4g/t in resampling at Nuckulla Hill gold project
  • The project is in the same region of South Australia as the 1.6Moz Tunkillia project
  • AUV has already completed follow up drilling with assays pending

Special Report: Auravelle Metals has returned up to 25.4g/t gold in resamples from maiden RC drilling on the Sheoak prospect at its Nuckulla Hill gold project in South Australia.

Sheoak is one of a series of gold prospects within the Yarlbrinda Shear Zone, which also hosts Barton Gold’s (ASX:BGD) 1.6Moz Tunkillia gold project.

Auravelle Metals’ (ASX:AUV) drilling followed up 1990s RAB, aircore and RC drilling undertaken by previous explorers, delineating higher-grade zones within a much broader overall zone of gold anomalism – as well as significant zones of shallow high-grade gold.

The results showed:

  • 6m at 8.0g/t Au from 71m, including 1m at 25.4g/t and 1m at 15.8g/t;
  • 7m at 2.9g/t Au from 60m, including 1m at 9.2g/t;
  • 3m at 5.2g/t Au from 126m, including 1m at 9.1g/t;
  • 5m at 3.7g/t Au from 106m, including 1m at 14.1g/t; and
  • 1m at 8.4g/t Au from 80m.

In addition, six holes at the Bimba prospect returned up to 2m at 1.5g/t gold from 136m and 1m at 1.1g/t gold from 111m.

Step out drilling up next

At Sheoak, high-grade mineralisation has been intersected over at least 150m of strike and remains open to the north, south and at depth, with the company already completing a follow up program last month to test the northerly strike extent.

Results from this program, which also tested several other prospects within Nuckulla Hill – as well as the large Tunkillia North gold-in-calcrete anomaly – are due this month.

Further step-out RC drilling is planned at Sheoak in November, once heritage approvals are received following a recent survey.

“These exciting grades reinforce our view that the Nuckulla Hill Project has excellent potential to host significant gold mineralisation, particularly given that Sheoak is just one of several prospects located within the large Yarlbrinda Shear Zone – the key goldhosting structure in the region,” AUV managing director Andrew Muir said.

“Results are now awaited from the follow-up drilling completed at Sheoak in August, which also tested a number of these prospects, as well as the Tunkillia North gold-in-calcrete anomaly.

“With the assay results from this drilling due in October, and additional RC planned in November, Auravelle will have completed three high-impact drill programs in South Australia since July.

“In addition, in October Auravelle will be undertaking a large soil sampling program in South Australia and aircore drilling at the Crown project in WA, as the company continues to ramp-up gold-focussed exploration activities on multiple fronts. “
