Special Report: Rox continues to ring up the gold hits at its Youanmi project with drilling confirming a second high-grade zone below the discovery zone at the Grace prospect.

Final results from recent drilling that focused on Grace returned 3m at 7.41 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a depth of 109m and 2m at 7.34g/t gold from 34m.

That a second zone exists is important as Rox Resources (ASX:RXL) believes that the Grace prospect is a series of north-plunging high-grade stacked-lodes that lie within a broader zone of mineralisation.

This style of mineralisation was not previously recognised in the Youanmi area and is similar to other granite-hosted gold deposits of the Yilgarn Craton such as Granny Smith and King of the Hills.

Grace is located within a north-northwest trending corridor which includes the Airstrip and Youanmi South prospects.

Earlier results from drilling at the prospect include 7m at 54.6g/t gold from 8m and 4m at 69.5g/t gold from 28m.

Adding interest, drilling of nearby regional targets in similar structural settings has resulted in a 2m intersection grading 18.96g/t gold from 48m that ends in mineralisation at the Grace North target.

Holes at the Hill End East target returned 4m at 1.6g/t gold from 56m and 4m at 1.42g/t gold from 56m, while drilling at Plant Zone west intersected 12m at 1.12g/t gold from 48m, indicating that the Youanmi granite is highly prospective for mineralisation.

“Results of the 2020 drilling continue to rapidly advance our understanding of mineralisation at the Grace prospect, with increasing definition of a pattern of multiple high-grade lodes,” managing director Alex Passmore said.

Rox says that with the recent relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in Western Australia, it plans to re-deploy to the site shortly to resume drilling at the Grace prospect to facilitate resource estimation work.

It also plans to carry out further exploration of regional targets.

The Youanmi gold mine, 480km to the northeast of Perth, produced ~667,000oz of gold at 5.47g/t during three main periods: 1908-1921, 1937-1942, and 1987-1997.
