Special Report: Rox Resources and its joint venture partner continue to pencil in more gold hits at their Youanmi gold project in Western Australia.

Drilling has returned high-grade results including 4m grading 11.23 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a depth of 92m at the Youanmi South prospect and 3m grading 5.45g/t gold from a depth of 87m at the Commonwealth prospect. Most hits above 5g/t gold are considered to be high-grade.

Rox Resources (ASX:RXL) added that drilling at the Plant Zone continued to define shallow, potential base load mill feed with results including 8m at 2.62g/t gold from 60m, 9m at 1.04g/t gold from 83m and 8m at 1.03g/t gold from 44m.

The company has so far drilled about 11,000m in its ongoing drilling campaign at the OYG joint venture and has received results for about 80 per cent of this amount.

Further drilling is expected to focus on the Youanmi South prospect, which has returned some of the best drill intersections of the current campaign, such as 12m at 12.7g/t gold from a depth of 80m and 12m at 8.5g/g gold from 44m.

Drilling is ongoing through November with resource estimation work to follow thereafter.

“These results continue to show the excellent potential of the Youanmi belt and the OYG JV in particular and we look forward to presenting further results when they become available,” managing director Alex Passmore said.

“Drilling at the Plant Zone prospect, a granite stockwork style of mineralisation now delineated over a 1.4km strike length, continues to add scale to the overall project gold inventory.”

Earlier this week, Rox and its Youanmi projects JV partner made an intriguing gold intersection with anomalous (low-grade) lead, zinc and copper.

This is of particular interest as Spectrum Metals’ (ASX:SPX) neighbouring, high-grade Penny West project also features gold that is associated with base metals, which hints at a potential ‘signpost’ to big Penny West-type discoveries at the Youanmi project.
