Special Report: There is just no end to the high-grade gold that Rox Resources (ASX: RXL) and its JV partner Venus Metals are finding at their Currans Find North gold discovery in the Youanmi province of WA.
The results of a recently completed stage-three reverse circulation drilling program, of 602m across five holes, confirmed the along-strike continuation of the high-grade gold zone.
High-grade gold is anything over about 5 grams per tonne (g/t), and the latest drilling delivered grades of as high as 39.61g/t.
The most notable results included 1m at 39.61g/t from 94m, 1m at 13.32g/t from 110m and 4m at 5.28g/t from 90m, including 1m at 15.3g/t from 92m.
Venus said the stage three results confirmed the presence of two stacked lodes at Currans North and showed an increase in gold grade and width in the Upper Lode.
On top of that the gold mineralisation remains open at depth and down plunge.
Supplied.
Importantly, a multi-element analyses of the high-grade gold intersections has identified a distinct geochemical signature that will be used to target similar lodes within the Currans joint venture.
Rox (ASX:RXL) and Venus (ASX:VMC) are now planning to undertake stage-four drilling to test other new targets based on historical drill data, as well as any potential targets generated by the induced polarisation geophysical survey.
Exploration hotspot
The Youanmi province is running hot right now thanks to very high-grade discoveries by junior players like Spectrum Metals (ASX:SPX), which has become somewhat of a market darling.
And it looks as if Rox and Venus have the same rocks at their Currans Find project that Spectrum has at its Penny West project.
Currans Find is hosted in multiple east-northeast-trending quartz veins within mafic, ultramafic and intermediate rocks.
These rock types are also host to the Penny West and Columbia–Magenta deposits south of Currans Find.
It is a feature of the deposits that they show very high gold grades.
It looks as if Rox and Venus also have significant gold mineralisation in the regolith at the Golden Victoria prospect.
Drilling at the prospect returned a 1m hit of up to 5.2g/t from 47m down.
The JV partners will drill test the prospect to explore the bedrock potential for high-grade gold mineralisation.
