Special Report: In the latest milestone for the massive Tiros project in Brazil, Resouro Strategic Metals has appointed industry leading experts to advance project studies on the world’s largest JORC-compliant rare earths and titanium dioxide deposit.
Hot on the heels of the announcement of the 1.7Bt maiden mineral resource estimate, Resouro Strategic Metals (ASX:RAU) has appointed partners with specialist experience to advance metallurgical test work, mining studies, environmental assessments and project approvals.
As it progresses plans to become a major producer of rare earths and titanium outside China, Resouro will release results of rare earth metallurgical testwork with partner Altilium Group.
An innovative global leader in metallurgy, Altilium Group has been conducting non-conventional “sighter” rare earth test work with the aim of maximising extraction of the high-value metals with minimal waste.
Altilium Group has almost completed non-conventional “sighter” testing on Tiros Central Block ore at its Australian labs and those results will be released in the short term.
Resouro has also started conventional rare earth met test work with Centre for Intelligent Technologies Senai and SGS S.A. Laboratories in Brazil.
The two major streams of met test work are being done in parallel for insights into the preferred rare earth and TiO2 recoveries and processing route for the Tiros ore.
Another pivotal initiative on the road to developing Tiros is delivering the preliminary economic assessment for the project. To this end, Resouro has appointed Atticus to complete the geology, geotechnical and initial mining planning activities on the Tiros deposit.
Atticus is in turn partnered with Global Mining Design, which is a global specialist in mine design, planning and scheduling.
Both companies are subject matter experts and worked with Resouro to complete the maiden JORC MRE for Tiros. They will use the data from the MRE along with ongoing infill drilling for mine planning, design and metallurgy purposes.
Alongside this work, environmental and social consultants CLAM Resources will complete an environmental assessment as part of the project permitting and approvals process.
Resouro is also continuing its positive engagement with regulatory authorities in the State of Minas Gerais and starting work on its application for a mining license over the Central Block of Tiros.
Commenting on the appointment of the consultants and progress, particularly on the met testing, Resouro’s president and founder Chris Eager said: “Completion of the JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate has paved the way for the selection of initial mining areas and compilation of representative composite samples for metallurgical test work for the planned PEA Scoping Study for Tiros.
“These initiatives are designed to highlight the full potential of our resources, optimise processes and deliver sustainable solutions.
“By leveraging cutting-edge technology and expert insights, we aim to push the boundaries of what is possible in metallurgy and achieve superior results, in terms of both economic and environmental outcomes.
“Resouro remains committed to sustainable practices and positive community engagement, ensuring that our growth contributes to the well-being of the regions in which we operate.
“We look forward to updating the market on metallurgical test work results and progress to completion of our preliminary economic assessment.”
