Special Report: Resolution’s maiden drill program at 64North will focus on targets similar to Northern Star’s neighbouring Goodpaster discovery and Pogo gold mine.

Resolution Minerals (ASX:RML) plans to kick off the drilling program in early March to test the eastern Aurora targets along the boundary with Northern Star’s (ASX:NST) Pogo gold mine lease boundary.

Notably, these targets have similar geophysical characteristics to both the Pogo mine and the recent and very nearby Goodpaster discovery.

The company is also continuing to assess the regional prospectivity of its 64North project, which literally surrounds Northern Star’s Pogo mine that produced 4 million ounces of gold over the past 13 years.

This work is aimed at building a pipeline of drill ready prospects across its 660sqkm land package.

“Our immediate aim is to drill test for ‘Pogo style’ mineralisation on a series of look-a-like size and geophysical features to Northern Star’s Goodpaster discovery and Pogo gold mine,” Resolution managing director Duncan Chessell said.

“We are pleased to have secured Ruen Drilling for our maiden drilling program given their local experience of drilling conditions from neighbours Northern Star’s Goodpaster discovery.”

West Pogo block

Resolution – formerly Northern Cobalt – reached a deal to acquire up to 80 per cent of 64North project last year from Milrock Resources.

Milrock had quietly acquiring the prospective and sparsely explored ground surrounding the Pogo mine lease while its larger neighbour was still getting around production issues at Pogo.

These include ground that is along strike from Goodpaster, where Northern Star hit top intersections of 4m at 67.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 5.2m at 15.7g/t gold and 5.2m at 9.5g/t gold including 2.4m at 18.1g/t gold.

Resolution also benefits from year-round project access via road – very rare in Alaska – which will massively reduce logistical costs.
