Special report: Drilling at Renegade Exploration’s Greater Mongoose zone has intersected significant copper mineralisation in every single drill hole, reflecting the best results the company has received to date at the project.
Queensland copper-gold explorer Renegade Exploration (ASX:RNX) is on the hunt for iron oxide-copper-gold opportunities in the State’s north-west Cloncurry region.
The company made a significant discovery at its Mongoose Deeps prospect in July, likened in style to Evolution Mining’s (ASX:EVN) prolific, multi-billion dollar Ernest Henry copper-gold mine – a large, long-life, and nearby copper gold operation.
RNX is narrowing in on IOCG potential in the vein of Ernest Henry and has uncovered close to surface magnetic anomalies, as well as a deep target during high-definition drone magnetics surveys.
Drilling has also focused on the Greater Mongoose area, which has produced a number of significant intersections, allowing it to define an inferred resource of 3.1Mt at 0.55% copper and 0.07g/t gold.
The company has now received pXRF results at Greater Mongoose, which have returned the best copper intervals to date within the area.
Drilling tested new anomalies throughout the zone including the Mongoose deposit, Tank, Magazine, Mongoose Deeps, and Mongoose West.
Stand out results in hole RMG035 returned 107m at 0.62% copper from 55m, including 7m at 2.06% copper from 59m and 13m at 1.1% copper from 115m.
Hole RMG036 delivered 105m at 0.51% copper from 3m, including 22m at 1% copper from 39m and 13m at 0.82% copper from 89m.
RNX said ‘very high’ magnetic alteration zones and breccias were also encountered at Tank and Mongoose West with results including 30m at 0.18% copper from 153m, 5m at 0.45% copper from 33m and 6m at 0.31% copper from 220m.
“To intercept significant copper mineralisation in every single drill hole is a remarkable achievement,” RNX chairman Robert Kirtlan said.
“These results are the best that Renegade have drilled at Mongoose to date (and) this is particularly significant as we have completed 40 holes for over 6500m of drilling.
“The highly mineralised holes reported above have opened up a new area of mineralisation and will add size to the Mongoose Deposit.
“We have seen more of the Ernest Henry style alteration and brecciation which gives serious encouragement to continue looking for something bigger within the Greater Mongoose Area.”
The significant drill intervals from holes RMG035 and RMG036 have been sent to the lab for copper and gold analysis, with results expected in 4-6 weeks.
