Special Report: An independent review of historical data and recent work at Regener8’s Kookynie project in WA has indicated its most compelling near-term gold targets are contained at the May and Green Bullet prospects.

The project sits within a historically productive region that has delivered over 500,000oz of the precious metal since gold rush times, yet remains underexplored.

As such, the region has attracted significant exploration investment with Regener8’s (ASX:R8R) tenement package neighbouring active explorers such as Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD), Iris Metals (ASX:IR1), Metalicity (ASX:MCT) and Carnavale Resources (ASX:CAV).

Gold was discovered in Regener8’s Niagara area in 1895, leading to historical output of 6,700t at an average grade of 25.8g/t gold between 1898 and 1914.

Historical exploration at the May-Derwent prospect at Niagara West includes high-grade intersections such as 2m grading 70.5g/t gold and 2m at 15.4g/t gold.

Drilling by the company in 2023 returned encouraging results such as 5m at 3.18g/t gold (NGRC017) and 2m at 7.77g/t gold including 1m at 14.8g/t gold (NGRC037).

Further gold exploration warranted

The review by Newexco Exploration found the combination of the high-grade intersection in NGRC037 – and a coincident untested gold-in-soil anomaly – warranted further drilling at May-Derwent to assess the continuity of mineralisation.

Meanwhile, the review of Green Bullet, which was identified through the company’s soil geochemistry work and followed up with 12 reverse circulation drill holes, found the flat-lying intersections of historical RAB drilling suggest a horizon of supergene enrichment in weathered zones that “needs to be investigated”.

Analysis of the auger data also identified a new gold anomaly in the northern part of Green Bullet that was not tested by the company’s maiden drilling.

Newexco suggests this should be considered a near term follow up target as it’s coincident with an interpreted east-southeast trend from R8R’s geophysical data.

“The independent review undertaken by Newexco Exploration has confirmed the continuing prospectivity of the Kookynie gold project on its geological merits, (particularly at the Green Bullet and May Derwent prospects) with recommendations to further advance exploration and understanding of key targets at Niagara West,” Regener8 managing director Stephen Foley said.

“As we seek to undertake our maiden drilling campaign at the East Ponton project, this review provides a basis for value adding and follow up exploration opportunities for the Kookynie gold project.”
