Special Report: Geochemical analysis of Recharge Metals’ Express lithium project in the prolific James Bay mining district in Quebec, Canada, has confirmed the potential for fractionalised lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites and defined two high-priority target areas for further investigation.
Recharge Metals’ (ASX:REC) Express project is right in the thick of a spodumene-bearing pegmatite trend – strategically positioned between Arcadium’s (ASX:LTM) (formerly Allkem) 110.2Mt @ 1.3% Li2O James Bay lithium deposit and Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) and Cygnus Metals’ (ASX:CY5) respective Pontax projects.
The 73.5km2 Express hosts several historically identified pegmatite outcrops which REC believes can be targeted further in upcoming field programs.
Sampling identifies prospective pegmatite systems
Field crews from Dahrouge Geological – a James Bay exploration specialist which identified and vended the prolific 109Mt Corvette lithium deposit to Patriot – has completed geochemical analysis at Express which indicates the geological system is to host lithium mineralisation.
Two high-priority areas of outcropping pegmatites have now been defined. Target 1A covers a 3.6km strike length in the NW corner of Target 1, while Target 3A covers a 3.2km strike in the west portion of Target 3.
Additionally, several other areas have been highlighted by Dahrouge for follow-up exploration.
REC managing director Felicity Repacholi says the assay results confirm Express is in the right part of an LCT system.
“Further, they define two clear targets for more intensive mapping and sampling covering a significant combined strike length of over 6km,” she said.
“In addition, a number of other outcrops have returned assays of interest based on their geochemical signature and interpreted degree of fractionation which will result in another busy field season for Recharge at Express.
“We still await assay data from our Wapistan project, which we anticipate receiving later this month.”
Future work at Express is to begin in the Canadian summer.
