Nordic Resources’ magnetic magic finds more gold targets in Finland

  • Magnetic survey uncovers several new targets with magnetic signatures similar to the Kopsa deposit
  • Most promising targets found in two corridors running 2.5km southwest and 1.5km south from the current resource
  • Nordic Resources plans to test at least one of the new targets in its ongoing drill program

Special Report: A ground magnetic survey has provided Nordic Resources with a detailed structural understanding of the Kopsa deposit in Finland and identified several new targets with similar magnetic signatures.

The survey found that the magnetic signature of the host intrusion at Kopsa is repeated along two undrilled corridors with the most prospective lying in a 2.5km corridor extending southwest from the deposit and in a second 1.5km corridor extending to the south.

These magnetic signatures or otherwise promising anomalous regions along the Kopsa corridor were previously unknown and have never been drill tested.

Given that Kopsa hosts a near-surface resource of 23.2Mt grading 1.09g/t gold equivalent, or 814,800oz AuEq – 69% of which is in the higher confidence measured and indicated categories, this has the potential to significantly increase the scale of the extended Kopsa project area.

Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) added that the survey, which covered the area of the current resource and potential extensions/continuations of the mineralisation, had improved its understanding of the host structure and would assist in future resource modelling and extension targeting.

Finnish gold

Kopsa is the most advanced of the three projects the company holds in central Finland’s Middle Ostrobothnia Gold Belt.

All three projects sit within 75km of each other and were acquired from Swedish company Northgold AB.

Total resource inventory sits at 34.3Mt at 1.11g/t AuEq for 1.23Moz contained AuEq – or 1.04Moz gold and 38,000t copper.

Two processing plants nearby provide options for toll treatment alongside the standalone plant option.

The Kopsa mining licence is conditional upon securing a road access licence area, which is in process.

NNL is carrying out a 4500m drill program at Kopsa and plans to drill test at least one of the newly identified targets in the current program.

It also plans to ground truth, rank and potentially drill test these other exciting targets at its next opportunity.
