• Mt Malcolm Mines completes bulk sampling excavation at Golden Crown
  • A total 6780g of gold doré has been recovered so far
  • The company is now using the insights gained from bulk sampling to plan upcoming drilling

Special Report: Mt Malcolm Mines has hit a major milestone at the Golden Crown prospect with the successful completion of its bulk sampling excavation program.

The latest phase of the program produced 2972g (or 95.54 ounces) of gold doré from the processing of 200 wet metric tonnes (WMT) of high-grade material using wet gravity recovery at a facility managed by Blockchain Resources

That sees a cumulative total recovery of 6780g (or 218oz) of gold doré from processing of 812 WMT of high-grade material to date, which Mt Malcolm (ASX:M2M) says validates the effectiveness of wet gravity recovery for the coarse nature of Golden Crown mineralisation.

In parallel, doré sales to The Perth Mint generated $835,462 with gold purity ranging from 85.6% to 94.5% gold.

M2M is now looking to complete the ongoing processing of gravity recovered gold, plan drill programs incorporating insights gained from the bulk sampling, evaluate monetisation options for stockpiled materials and advance resource estimations.

Gold-rich region

The Golden Crown prospect is part of the company’s broader Malcolm project, which covers 200km2 northeast of Leonora, WA.

The region is known for its rich gold deposits and a history of mining operations, including the nearby Gwalia and recently restarted King of the Hills mines.

Last year’s drilling programs successfully identified a mineralised corridor measuring 50m in length and 15m in width, characterised by high-grade gold mineralisation and visible gold occurrences.

Economic potential

M2M managing director Trevor Dixon said the recovery of gold doré through gravity processing strengthened the company’s confidence in the economic potential of the prospect.

“The successful completion of the bulk sampling excavation program with no loss time incidents (LTI) at Golden Crown marks a major milestone for Mt Malcolm,” he said.

“As processing continues, our forward focus will turn to advancing resource estimations, evaluating monetisation options for stockpiled material, and optimising future mining strategies at Golden Crown.”
