Special Report: Mt Malcolm Mines has reported excellent gold recovery results of 94.6% and gold content in tailings ranging between 1-3.5g/t gold at its Golden Crown prospect in WA.
The average achievable gold recovery across all tailing samples was determined through Accelerated Cyanide Leach Leachwell (ACL) test work.
This comes after the company flagged exceptional gold results including a whopping 1m at 111g/t gold from grade control RC drilling last month, and an initial sample processing study which returned an average 63.4% gold recovery the month before.
Now Mt Malcolm Mines (ASX:M2M) has announced gold recovery from tailings samples following gravity separation, which indicate high achievable recovery and contribute significantly to the total recovery from the gold mineralisation at Golden Crown.
Golden Crown, which is a proven historical producer yielding 1,720 oz between 1899 and 1904, has become the company’s focal point for resource estimation and project development.
And these latest recovery results have certainly given the economic viability of the project a good boost, suggesting that both leaching and wet gravity processes are highly effective for Golden Crown-type mineralisation with gold extraction efficiency reaching comparably high levels.
“The recent test work on gold recovery from tailings has shown significant value, boosting confidence in the economic viability of processing high-grade material from the ongoing bulk sampling exercise,” managing director Trevor Dixon said.
“This detailed processing approach aims to maximize gold recovery and thoroughly evaluate the prospect’s potential for small-scale mining operations and commercial gold extraction.”
Planning is underway for follow-up drilling and a ~8,000t bulk sampling program is continuing, with the company already spotting positive initial indications of visible gold in rock chip samples.
