Special Report: Mt Malcolm Mines expects to extract higher grade mineralisation at its Golden Crown prospect after bulk sampling uncovered visible gold in rock chips.
The visible gold was spotted near drillhole GMRC01, confirming a previous high-grade drilling intercept of 1m grading 19.5g/t from a depth of 12m.
Rock chips containing visible gold are being dispatched to Intertek’s laboratory in WA for fire assay analysis and the assay results are expected within a month.
Mt Malcolm Mines (ASX:M2M) has already produced gold doré bars through gravity processing of bulk material excavated from the prospect within the Malcolm Dam prospect area – a historical gold producer that yielded more than 1720oz at an average grade of 29g/t gold.
With excavation now advancing within high-grade zones, the company is focused on evaluating and recovering gold through gravity processing, which is being carried out at a nearby facility.
“Bulk sampling progress at Golden Crown is highly encouraging. Occurrence of visible gold in recent rock chip samples confirms past high grade drilling results,” managing director Trevor Dixon said.
“The observed geological features and visible gold provide further support of a high-grade mineralised system. These findings strengthen our confidence in the prospect’s economic potential as we advance the program.”
Bulk sampling at Golden Crown has reached a depth of 392.5 mRL, revealing high-grade mineralised zones characterised by significant quartz veining along with sheared intermediate and felsic volcanic rocks.
This mineralisation style aligns with previous drilling results, which recorded high-grade gold intercepts between 393 mRL to 385 mRL in this area.
M2M plans to complete its bulk sampling program with exploring and extracting high-grade mineralised zones and refining geological models to enhance accuracy.
Geological data collected during the program will guide future exploration efforts and support resource estimations.
