Miramar identifies multiple new drill targets at 8 Mile

  • Miramar has identified several targets for infill geophysical surveys at the Gidji JV gold project
  • The surveys will help target further RC and/or diamond drilling
  • Miramar is focused on uncovering the true scale of the 8 Mile prospect

Special report: Miramar Resources continues to see the potential to make a significant gold discovery at the 8 Mile prospect, part of the wider Gidji JV project in WA’s Goldfields, seeking the extension of a deposit owned by Australia’s top gold miner.

The first RC hole at 8 Mile intersected gold mineralisation across multiple zones and concluded  in gold mineralisation, suggesting the system remains open at depth.

So far, that first hole at 8 Mile has proved the theory that gold mineralisation at Northern Star’s (ASX:NST) 8 Mile Dam gold deposit extends onto the company’s ground.

The site sits just kilometres from Kalgoorlie and the famous Super Pit, where Northern Star wants to more than double production to a record 900,000ozpa from 2029.

That commitment puts a premium on discoveries in the area, with plants at Kanowna Belle and Paddington also just a stone’s throw away.

All results have now been received by Miramar (ASX:M2R), which is now turning its attention towards geophysical work programs to refine additional drill targets.

M2R executive chairman Allan Kelly said although the results of the remaining two completed RC holes were disappointing, several targets have already been identified for infill geophysical surveys followed by further RC and/or diamond drilling.

“We have already identified multiple drill targets and are planning to use infill gravity and sub-audio magnetics to refine these targets before conducting further drilling,” he added.

“8 Mile is an exciting target with the potential for significant gold mineralisation, as evident by the neighbouring 8-Mile Dam deposit, but with minimal deep drilling.

“Now we know gold mineralisation extends onto our side of the fence, we are looking forward to uncovering its true scale.”

Potential gold camp

Despite Gidji being surrounded by multiple gold mining and processing operations, the asset has been underexplored given its extensive shallow cover.

Since 2020, Miramar has made multiple large supergene gold discoveries and defined bedrock targets for deeper drilling.

The company strongly believes there is potential for the discovery of a new gold camp which could host multiple discrete gold deposits.
