Miramar has resumed lake diamond drilling to test for further high-grade gold at the Glandore East target within its Glandore project just 40km east of Kalgoorlie.
It follows the very first hole at Glandore East intersecting high-grade, visible mineralisation with an assay of up to 0.7m grading 13.85 grams per tonne (g/t) gold in a quartz vein within a felsic porphyry.
Along with historical results, the new results confirmed the continuity of westerly-dipping gold mineralisation for approximately 100m down-dip, with multiple mineralised zones remaining open along strike to the north and south, and at depth.
Miramar Resources (ASX:M2R) plans to systematically test the Glandore East target with multiple diamond holes over a strike length of about 500m and include up to 2,000m of drilling subject to results.
“At Glandore East, we have multiple new and historic high-grade aircore and/or diamond drilling results over a strike length of about 2.7km,” executive chairman Allan Kelly said.
“The historic diamond drilling only tested a small portion of this large target and the drill coverage was sporadic.
“We believe that systematic drill testing, down dip and along strike, has a good chance of outlining further bedrock gold mineralisation and we look forward to continuing the current diamond drilling program.”
Glandore drilling and other activity
The company is also planning a program of aircore holes on the “island” south and southwest of the current diamond drilling program.
This will evaluate the gap between the high-grade veins seen in the diamond drilling and significant results in recent and historical aircore holes drilled further to the southwest
Infill aircore drilling on the lake surface is also planned.
Additionally, Miramar recently commissioned a detailed UAV magnetic survey to assist in highlighting northeast-trending structures which may be mineralised.
The company is also awaiting results from aircore drilling at Boorara North and initial aircore drilling at the Whaleshark project near Onslow while aircore drilling is currently underway at the Randalls project.
