High-grade results from rock chip sampling have outlined a potential new copper system at Metalicity’s Mt Surprise project in Queensland.

Results such as 20.75% copper and 41.5 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 11.65% copper and 10.34g/t silver, and 10.06% copper, 39.57g/t silver and 0.48g/t gold were returned from a new mineralised gossanous outcrop about 100m long and 5m wide.

Additionally, three samples from the outcrop returned significant results of up to 2.94% lead and 0.2% zinc.

Metalicity (ASX:MCT) notes that the results from the rock chip sampling program support visual observations regarding the prospectivity of the project and potential target areas.

Results for potential lithium samples taken from this initial sampling program are also pending.

“To find an outcropping gossan of that size was particularly interesting, but to have these high-grade results returned is an excellent endorsement of the high prospectivity of this recently acquired tenure and to the company’s maiden exploration activities in North Queensland,” managing director Justin Barton said.

“This now provides Metalicity with multiple mineral anomalies and targets to follow up. To confirm the significant historical copper results of >20% is very exciting, whilst the tenure still remains highly prospective for lithium.”

Assay results and upcoming activity

The results indicate the presence of high-grade copper mineralisation from historical excavations and confirmed visual observations of abundant copper sulphide mineralisation.

Samples were collected from observed veins as well as wall rocks adjacent to veining from costean walls and as representative samples from small trenches through areas of the mining waste spoil which was observed to contain abundant copper sulphide mineralisation.

Metalicity is now planning a follow-up field program to further delineate the extent of the copper and base metals anomalies and targets.

This may include low detection level soil sampling, rock chip sampling and further geological reconnaissance mapping.

Pending lithium assays will also help define a future targeted lithium program at Mt Surprise.
