Metal Hawk’s Commodore gold story continues to rev up at Berehaven

Metal Hawk has been buoyed by a new gold discovery at its Berehaven project near Australia’s gold capital of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, with RC drilling striking a new gold zone north of its Commodore prospect.

Locatd 20km south-east of Kalgoorlie in WA’s Goldfields, a seven-hole program at Berehaven in March 2023 has struck the precious metal on Metal Hawk’s (ASX:MHK) ground.

Adding to Metal Hawk’s major nickel potential along the north-northwest trending greenstone belt extending through its western Berehaven tenements, it comes with gold above US$2000/oz and threatening to eclipse record highs.

A single RC hole was designed to test an end-of-hole anomaly in hole BVA013 which struck 1m at 1.03g/t from 56m around 500m north of the Commodore prospect, where diamond drilling in 2022 struck high grade gold including 5.9m at 6.7g/t from 244.4m and 2.5m at 7.4g/t from 255.4m in separate holes.

The recent sampling in hole BVN065 at the new anomaly hit best assays from 2m composites of 8m at 0.96g/t from 74m, 2m at 1.31g/t from 88m and 4m at 1.69g/t from 96m.

Those hits are open along strike and contained in an area with little previous exploration despite the project’s proximity to Australia’s richest gold field, home to over 60Moz of historic production.

“This result is an exciting new development and further demonstrates the prospectivity of the Berehaven project, which just keeps on giving,” MHK managing director Will Belbin said.

“This new intersection is open along strike and there has been virtually no previous drilling at the prospect, except for a short line of aircore holes drilled for nickel 200m further north.

“We will be testing this new gold zone with more RC drilling in coming weeks, as well as continuing our nickel sulphide exploration drilling north of the Torana prospect within the project area.”

Located north of the Blair nickel sulphide deposit over 90km2 in the eastern Goldfields, Berehaven first came to prominence with big nickel sulphide hits in 2021.
