Meeka has no shortage of thick and rich rare earth drill assays from which it would use to calculate a maiden resource for its Circle Valley project in WA’s Albany-Fraser Mobile Belt.
And the final assays from the infill and extensional drill program are certainly eye-catching, topping out at 12m grading 4,276 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth oxides (TREO) from a downhole depth of just 19m including the highest ever grade of 7,475ppm TREO within a 4m interval in hole 23CVAC062.
Valuable magnet REEs continue to make up a significant part of the total REE mineralisation with neodymium and praseodymium to TREO ratios of up to 30% in this batch of results.
With all assays now received from the program covering some 15km2, Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) has now started modelling of the REE resource at Circle Valley.
The initial resource estimate is on track for release in the current quarter.
“These results include the highest grade rare earth mineralisation seen to date at Circle Valley, over 7,000ppm TREO,” managing director Tim Davidson said.
“Assays continue to confirm thick seams of high-grade mineralisation rich in NdPr magnet rare earth elements are present at Circle Valley.
“These latest assay results also continue to confirm the shallow high-grade mineralisation trends northwest and remains open in that direction, providing strong potential for further growth through drilling.”
REE mineralisation at Circle Valley accumulates within the saprolite clay horizon creating thick, near surface mineralised seams below shallow transported cover.
Drilling has indicated that this cover shallows to the northwest of Circle Valley, coincident with the highest-grade mineralisation recorded to date of 7,475ppm TREO.
The mineralisation also consistently demonstrates a high proportion, up to 34%, of valuable NdPr.
