Lithium Energy has taken another step towards defining a maiden JORC resource for the Corella tenement within its wider Burke graphite project following completion of maiden drilling.

The 16-hole 1,594m drilling program was conducted alongside an extensive rock chip sampling program to build a better resource model for graphite mineralisation within the Corella tenement.

Lithium Energy (ASX:LEL) says this exploration program builds upon the previous surface sampling and electromagnetic (EM) surveys, which indicated multiple occurrences of high-grade graphite in the northeast corner of the Corella tenement.

A consultant geologist has been engaged to delineate a maiden JORC Inferred mineral resource estimate (MRE) with results from both the RC drilling and sampling submitted for assaying.

Potential to expand Burke graphite inventory

LEL considers the delineation of an Inferred resource at Corella, only 150km from the Burke tenement, as particularly important for the overall development strategy of the Burke project.

An infill drilling program previously delivered a significant increase in the size and confidence of the Burke deposit with an updated JORC MRE of 9.1Mt at 14.4% total graphitic carbon (TGC) for a total of 1.3Mt contained graphite.

Should a significant maiden MRE be defined at Corella, it offers the potential to add to the overall graphite inventory of the Burke project and thus provides the company with expanded development options that could include graphite sourced from Corella.

The Company is planning to shortly commence an Engineering Study for a proposed anode manufacturing facility based in Queensland to produce high value Purified Spherical Graphite (PSG) material for use in lithium-ion batteries, using graphite from the Burke project.
