With over 67m of cumulative lithium pegmatites intersected in one hole, drilling completed in late 2022 has supported Latin’s belief that there’s excellent growth potential at its Colina West prospect.

The result from SADD055, which is located about 200m along strike to the south of the Colina West discovery hole, includes intercepts of 13.73m at 1.38% Li2O from 200.19m, 16.08m at 1.07% Li2O from 306.69m and 10.85m at 1.96% Li2O from 322.15m.

Nor is it the only mineralised intercept, with hole SADD057 returning a 20.17m intersection at 1.66% Li2O from a down-hole depth of 136.99m while SADD060 hit 15.96m at 1.56% Li2O from 350.09m.

Latin Resources (ASX:LRS) is currently undertaking a 65,000m drill program aimed at fast tracking the growth of the Colina indicated and inferred mineral resource as well as defining a maiden resource at Colin West.

Previous work has shown the presence of multiple spodumene bearing pegmatites including some thick intersections, which currently fall outside the limits of the MRE.

“These latest results from our 2022 drilling campaign are exceptional.  We have intersected over 67 cumulative metres of highly mineralised pegmatites in drill hole SADD055, which was collared approximately 200m to the south of the Colina West discovery hole SADD033,” geology manager Tony Greenaway said.

“The Colina West area is shaping up to be a critical new discovery for the company.  The thick high‐ grade mineralisation we have encountered here is on par with, or arguably better than the main Colina deposit.

“The potential scale of the Colina West discovery, highlighted by these latest results, means that this area is a major focus for our current 2023 drilling campaign. We believe that with more drilling, Colina West has the potential to deliver significant tonnes to the overall resource base for the project.”

Salinas project

Both Colina and Colina West are located within the company’s flagship Salinas project, which is about 10km from the town of Salinas in the Bananal Valley in Brazil.

Colina currently has a current resource of  13.3 million tonnes grading 1.2% Li2O while Colina West was previously known to host multiple spodumene bearing pegmatites.

Besides the current resource expansion and definition program, Latin is also looking to deliver further resource upgrades this year.
