Large anomaly highlights porphyry gold-copper system potential for Killi
Mining
Special Report: Killi Resources has found a large-scale, shallow induced polarisation (IP) anomaly during geophysical surveys at the Baloo Prospect, at its Mt Rawdon West gold-copper project in Queensland.
The project is highly prospective for a new gold-copper porphyry-epithermal gold-copper deposit, and the company believes this new IP anomaly represents a porphyry/intrusive system beneath the large gold-copper soil anomaly at surface.
In addition, surface mapping and rock chip samples identified stockwork veining in outcrop, a characteristic feature of porphyry-epithermal mineral systems.
And while the rock chips didn’t return any significant gold, copper or silver grades, they had elevated levels of known pathfinder elements such as arsenic, antimony and mercury, which all highlight the potential for a porphyry system at depth.
This all points to porphyry potential, a type/style of deposit that commonly occurs on the east coast of Australia.
The final Baloo IP interpretation is expected in the next few weeks, with the results to inform the next phase of drilling at the project.
“This is an exciting development in the exploration work completed at the project to date,” Killi Resources (ASX:KLI) CEO Kathryn Cutler said.
“The scale of the existing surface soil anomaly indicates the potential for a large-scale mineral system and these 2D IP results below the gold, copper and molybdenum anomaly, provides further support for intrusive system requiring drill testing.
“Understanding these results with further processing to 3D and ground truthing is imperative to the design of future work at Baloo, which will include a drill campaign.”
The final drill results for the remaining three diamond drill holes at the Kaa prospect are expected to be released mid-December.
