Results from a Brightness (ISO B) analysis has returned results up to 94.57% demonstrating support for a kaolin resource to be delineated with further drilling.

A first pass aircore drilling program was completed at the Koolya kaolin project in December covering 15km of prospective kaolin rich granite and intersecting widespread kaolin of varying thickness with a best result of 30m thick bright white kaolin from 4m.

Analysis was then completed on the samples to quantify the specific characteristics such as ISO brightness and rare earth elements (REE).

While further analysis will be undertaken to better quantify the presence of kaolinite and halloysite using XRD analysis, a total of 10 samples returned an ISO brightness of >79.35% and four samples hit >800ppm TREO.

XRD analysis and drilling to uncover further potential

Lanthanein Resources (ASX:LNR) technical director Brian Thomas says the exceptional brightness in samples from the company’s first pass drilling is a great result and in line with expectations.

“There is a significant areal extent of high-quality bright kaolin to support the potential for a significant kaolin resource and high purity alumina feedstock project to be delineated with further drilling,” he says.

“High purity kaolin is of growing importance as a critical feedstock in the processing of high purity alumina, which is being used in lithium-ion batteries, LED lighting, semiconductors, and sapphire glass.

“Samples are currently being analysed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to quantify the kaolinite and halloysite content and we are greatly encouraged by the presence of REEs with values of up to 1220ppm TREO,” Thomas adds.

“Exploring for critical minerals is of paramount importance for our company as we aim to find the future facing minerals used in the global clean energy transition.”

Next steps

Infill and step-out drilling will be undertaken in Q2 and Q3 to assist with the generation of a mineral resource estimate by Q4.
