• Exploration is underway across the La Grande East project
  • Fieldwork will focus on 340 high-priority targets including two magnetic lows that extend into PMT’s Shaakichiuwaanaan property
  • James Bay Minerals is actively looking for opportunities to diversify

Special report: Field work activities have kicked off at James Bay Minerals La Grande East project in Quebec, Canada focusing on 340 high priority targets across the 7000 hectare property.

James Bay Minerals’ (ASX:JBY) La Grande East project comprises a total of 136 claims covering along the Robert-Bourassa reservoir in Quebec’s La Grande sub-province.

The project contains two magnetic lows which trend into Patriot Battery Metals’ (ASX:PMT) Shaakichiuwaanaan asset and sits less than 1km from the Transtaiga Highway, which allows for all year walk-up access.

Initial reviews of the eastern portion of the property have identified multiple large white dyke-like features as viewed from satellite imagery, some more than 500m in length.

These features will be tested with initial field work activities including field mapping, rock chip sampling and where suitable, channel sampling.

Work programs will run concurrently with ongoing exploration at the Aero property and will utilise a helicopter to efficiently transport personnel between targets, allowing the team to cover a great number of sites in less time.

JBY’s Aero property contains approximately 12km of deformation zones which are considered highly prospective for LCT pegmatites.

Of note, Winsome Resources’ (ASX:WR1) Cancet project and PMT’s Shaakichiuwaanaan deposit both exhibit deformation zones upon which significant exploration success has occurred.

Potential for lithium discovery

JBY executive chairman Andrew Dornan says the company is excited to advance exploration efforts across the James Bay region.

“With the 340 high-priority targets identified through detailed desktop studies in a favourable geological setting, we see significant potential for a major lithium discovery,” he says.

“We also remain mindful of the current market pressures on lithium, and we are actively exploring further opportunities to diversify our asset portfolio for long-term stability and growth.”
