Special Report: Navarre Minerals (ASX:NML) is now drilling for new large-scale gold systems at Langi Logan, part of the Stawell Corridor Project (SCP) in western Victoria.

Navarre controls a huge chunk of the Stawell Gold Corridor, a premier gold district and some of Australia’s most sought-after exploration ground.

The SCP neighbours Stavely Minerals’ (ASX:SVY) regionally defining Cayley Lode discovery, popular new explorer North Stawell Minerals (ASX:NSM), and the high-grade 4moz Stawell gold mine – just to name a few.

The drilling at Langi Logan is part of a comprehensive 12,000m campaign during the 2020-2021 field season to test a bunch of underexplored regional targets.

It adds to the 10,000m resource definition drilling program already underway at the advanced ‘Resolution Lode’ on the Irvine basalt dome, also part of the SCP.

Highlight drilling intercepts at the 1.9km-long Resolution include an impressive 18.7m at 7.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

Langi Logan: The next 4Moz Stawell?

The Langi Logan prospect is showing potential to be a new, large-scale gold system.

Langi Logan has similar geology to the Stawell gold mine’s 4moz Magdala gold deposit, 40km along strike to the north.

It is also geologically similar to the advanced Irvine gold prospect, where Navarre is drilling to establish a maiden resource at ‘Resolution Lode’ in early 2021.

Langi Logan has already delivered encouraging gold assay results up to 33.6g/t of gold.

The prospect area produced 133,000oz of placer gold prior to World War One, but ~80 per cent of the project area is ‘hidden’ by cover between 2m and 30m thick.

Navarre is now drilling below this shallow cover with about 2,500m of initial air core drilling testing the NW flank target, a prospective area predicted by recent modelling work done by the CSIRO.

Previous drilling and terrific predictive modelling work by the CSIRO have highlighted the potential for a second large gold system at Langi Logan, Navarre managing director Ian Holland says.

“We are excited to be back drilling on our regional projects, which together with our 10,000m diamond drilling program at Irvine will generate strong news flow over the coming months,” he says.
