• Potentially significant high-grade tungsten discovery confirmed at Rumble Resources’ Western Queen
  • Significant tungsten mineralisation defined over 1300m strike and remains open in all directions
  • 20,000m drill program testing for gold and tungsten mineralisation ahead of maiden tungsten resource in 2025

Special report: Assays have confirmed a potentially significant high-grade tungsten discovery at Rumble Resources’ Western Queen gold project.

The decision to assay pulp samples from 2021 drilling has paid dividends, unlocking a new local source of the critical mineral.

Mineralisation has now been defined over a 1300m strike, conveniently parallel and proximal to gold mineralisation, which remains open in all directions.

Rumble Resources (ASX:RTR) is now aiming for the delivery of a maiden tungsten resource next year.

This will add to the 4.42Mt at 2.02 grams per tonne for 286,600oz gold resource, with a 76% increase announced last month.

Highlights among the new assay intersections include 3m at 0.52% tungsten trioxide from only 86m, in turn including 1m at 1.24% tungsten trioxide from 86m, plus 2m at 0.51% tungsten trioxide and 0.44g/t gold from just 68m.

The pulp assays complement previously reported tungsten assays, including 4.05m at 4.58% tungsten trioxide and 0.72g/t gold from 174.85m, which included 2.05m at 8.71% tungsten trioxide and 1.38g/t gold from 176.85m.

Another was 0.65m at 18.35% tungsten trioxide and 2.97g/t gold, also from 176.85m.

Testing for precious and critical metals

The 15,000m reverse circulation and 5000m diamond drill program currently underway at Western Queen is testing for both gold and tungsten mineralisation.

Alongside historic core resampling, assays from the drill program will likely provide the data needed to classify a maiden tungsten resource estimate in 2025.

Additionally, 500kg to 1000kg for samples from close to the historical Western Queen South open pit is being collected for preliminary metallurgical testwork that will start in the early 2025.

Targeting maiden tungsten resource

Managing Director and CEO Peter Harold said: “We are delighted that the re-assaying of the 2021 drill pulps has returned more tungsten results, confirming that we have potentially made a significant high-grade tungsten discovery.

“We are in the middle of a 20,000m reverse circulation and diamond drill program aimed at finding more high-grade gold resources and will assay all the core for tungsten too.

“The team on site is also collecting some sample containing coarse grained scheelite from around the old Western Queen South open pit so we can undertake metallurgical test work early in 2025.

“All this work is potentially leading us towards the delivery of a maiden tungsten resource next year.”

Mr Harold said given the strong interest in tungsten resources and the recently announced term sheet with Bain Global Resources and MEGA Resources to restart open pit operations at Western Queen, adding a tungsten revenue stream was a likely outcome from the planned open pit gold mining operations.

The news from Western Queen comes just a week after Rumble released excellent results from a comprehensive metallurgical testwork program at its world-class zinc-lead-silver Earaheedy project.
