Special Report: The Hemi gold discovery continues to get bigger as De Grey (ASX:DEG) extends drilling laterally and at depth at the Aquila zone. “Mineralisation remains open in all directions with limits yet to be defined,” says De Grey technical director Andy Beckwith.

Hemi, a defining new discovery in the Pilbara region of WA, is currently ~2.5km long and ~2km wide and growing fast.

Recent drilling targeting the ‘down dip’ and ‘strike’ extensions to the deposit returned impressive new intercepts including 17.6m at 4.6g/t from 195.7m, inside a larger 39m intersection grading 3.2g/t.

This confirms consistent mineralisation and extensive thick, plunging shoots of high grade mineralisation over large portions of the strike length.

This figure shows a longitudinal projection of Aquila and demonstrates continuous gold mineralisation within the intrusion along 800m of strike:

Further aircore drilling has been completed to the south west of Aquila to better define the extents of the intrusion along strike.

This drilling has successfully intersected and extended the altered intrusion a further 400m, providing an overall strike potential of 1.6km.

The gold mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike, De Grey says.

Additional diamond drilling is underway to extend mineralisation at depth, while shallow RC drilling will continue to test mineralisation along strike to the west and east to approximately 200m below surface.

Furthermore, encouraging gold intercepts suggesting potential for additional gold zones between Aquila and Brolga.

De Grey Technical Director Andy Beckwith says the scale of Hemi continues to increase with overall dimensions growing to approximately 2.5km north to south and approximately 2km west to east.

“Completed RC drilling to 200m depth has to date tested about 50 per cent of the mineralised footprint outlined by the aircore drilling at Hemi,” he says.
