New results demonstrate the ‘Brolga’ zone’s amenability to large scale, low strip ratio, open pit mining, as De Grey Mining (ASX:DEG) aims to release a maiden resource for the wider Hemi discovery around the middle of the year.

While ‘step out’ drilling is designed to expand the mineralised zone, ‘infill’ drilling will confirm and increase confidence in the size/grade of the mineralisation between the step out holes.

Resource definition (infill) drilling has been undertaken at each of the zones at Hemi, involving closer, 40m by 40m hole spacing.

De Grey is currently pulling up impressively wide zones of consistent, near-surface gold in close-spaced resource definition drilling at the Brolga zone at Hemi.

New results include:

78m @ 2.8g/t gold from 33m

127m @ 2.1g/t gold from 34m, and

144m @ 2.3g/t gold from 37m.

These ‘infill’ drilling results have confirmed the scale, consistency and endowment of the Brolga zone, De Grey managing director Glenn Jardine says.

“The new results also demonstrate Brolga’s amenability to large scale, low strip ratio, open pit mining,” he says.

“The resource definition drilling is being undertaken to support the confidence of the maiden resource for Hemi timed for mid-year.”

Brolga gets bigger

Extensional drilling is also currently underway to the west and south of Brolga.

This drilling is following up previously reported results in the west of Brolga including 256.0m @ 0.9g/t Au from 287m and potential shallower extensions into the Brolga South area.

De Grey currently has a total of nine rigs operating, with four RC and three diamond rigs deployed drilling extensional and exploration targets in the Greater Hemi area, and a further three air-core rigs advancing exploration for new discoveries across the Mallina Gold Project.
