• HAR confident of discovery potential after promising auger results at Sanela
  • Project subject to 65,000m+ of historical drilling
  • Company planning a resource update in the near term

Special Report: Haranga Resources says promising auger drilling at its Sanela project in Senegal has reinforced the prospect’s discovery potential for uranium mineralisation.

The project was previously owned by Uranium giant Orano (formerly Areva) and has seen an excess of 65,000m of historical drilling.

So far, a total of 234 out of 337 holes drilled by Haranga Resources (ASX:HAR) have encountered uranium anomalism (pXRF), ranging from 5-45x background.

The drilling also defined the north-eastern Sanela auger anomaly and a new set of anomalies in the south-east, along the NNE-SSW Sanela termite mound sampling anomalous trend.

The company is confident the Sanela uranium anomalism, which is over 2km in length, has the potential to become the first new discovery at the Saraya project and will be subject to RC drilling later this year.

The company also notes, however, these uranium results are acquired using its in-house pXRF device, and do not equate to a laboratory assay, despite the accuracy of the latest technological advances.

2kms of strike length to test

RC drilling earlier this year returned 8m at 311ppm U3O8 from 35m depth, including a high-grade section of 3m at 495ppm U3O8 from 40m.

And HAR believes there’s potential extensions, with further auger drilling planned to test for extended uranium mineralisation along strike.

“It is reassuring to see the progress we are making in Senegal with our exploration process,” managing director Peter Batten said.

“We recently announced the completion of regional termite mound sampling and the definition of an additional seven infill grids bringing that total to fifteen, not including the uranium deposit at Saraya.

“We have completed the infill at eight of these grids resulting in 11 new auger targets, eight of which have never seen a drillhole.

“From three of the 15 partially explored TMS anomalies we have the Sanela prospect, delivering auger anomalies and RC uranium intersects over a two kilometre strike length.”

Growing the uranium resource

Eight prospects have been identified for auger follow up at the start of the next dry season in Q4 of 2024, with the company confident of the potential for even more anomalies across the 1,650km2 permit.

Haranga is also planning to update the current Saraya indicated and inferred mineral resource of 16.1Mlb eU3O8 at 558ppm shortly.

The resource model will then be used to design the next drill campaign proposed to commence in Q4 of 2024.

The primary focus will be to extend the Saraya uranium resource ahead of potential studies to determine the pathway towards development.
