Special Report: Great Southern Mining has kicked off RC drilling at its flagship Duketon gold project in WA.
The project abuts Regis Resources’ (ASX:RRL) tenure in the Duketon Greenstone Belt, where RRL has ~10Mt of installed gold processing infrastructure with a declining resource base.
Duketon also has three advanced prospects – Southern Star, Golden Boulder and Amy Clarke – all of which have large scale (+4km) mineralised strike extents and existing high-grade intercepts.
The drilling will commence at the Golden Boulder prospect before moving to other newly defined targets within the project area.
Notably, previous drilling at Golden Boulder from 2021 and 2023 included intercepts of:
The project tenure sits in a 75km stretch of the gold belt yet to yield a major gold deposit, which, given the lack of modern exploration bodes well for a significant discovery.
“I am pleased to have the rig turning at Golden Boulder again following last year’s successful program,” Great Southern Mining (ASX:GSN) managing director Matthew Keane said.
“This tenement in particular hosts all three of the main mineralised structures in the Duketon Greenstone Belt and has seen very little drilling since the 1990s.
“We are keen to execute an efficient and cost effective program and will eagerly await the assay results over the newly defined targets.”
