Air core drilling carried out across September and October at Whiteheads has delivered anomalous gold results ahead of a drilling program set to get underway at Sidewell next month.

The 5,000m air core drilling program at Great Boulder’s Whiteheads Project, 40km north of Kalgoorlie, will test five regional targets including Blue Poles South, Tektite, and Highbury on the Arsenal Trend, as well as further drilling at Jubilee North and the Eclipse target.

Expected to take up to three weeks, Great Boulder (ASX:GBR) says once this program is ticked off, a diamond drill rig will begin drilling at the Mulga Bill prospect at Side Well in mid-February.

A big project with ‘dozens of priority targets’

GBR managing director Andrew Paterson said it is good to have the field team back on the ground at Whiteheads while the company continues to develop drilling programs for Side Well.

“Whiteheads is a big project with dozens of priority targets, and this program continues our systematic testing that has been ongoing for the past two years,” he said.

“We’re also looking forward to the upcoming diamond program at Side Well next month and by that time we should have the bulk of our 2021 assay data back, which will allow us to plan some big RC and diamond drilling programs in the months ahead.”

2021 assay results

An impressive 122 air core holes were drilled at Whiteheads for 5,166m in September and October 2021 to test a range of regional targets, including some that had not previously been drilled.

These included eight holes at Gunners, 23 holes at Tektite, eight holes at Highbury, six holes at Reception Hill, 57 holes along strike of Seven Leaders, and 20 holes at Jubilee North.

Several anomalous intersections were generated, including 1m at 2.55 g/t gold from 41m at Tektite, 4m at 0.61 g/t gold from 80m at Jubilee North, and 12m at 0.23 g/t gold from 67m at Seven Leaders.

What’s next?

GBR says the Tektite and Highbury results add to the potential of the Arsenal Trend south of Blue Poles and won’t deny the results are “encouraging”.

This is on top of the early-stage drilling at Blue Poles, where thick zones of gold mineralisation were discovered beneath anomalous bottom-of-hole assays in the initial AC coverage.

RC drilling results from Side Well are expected imminently and diamond drilling is set to recommence next month.
