Battery Age Minerals is back behind the drill bit at its potentially large-scale Falcon Lake project in Ontario as it seeks to expand on recent successes and test new prospective areas.

Falcon Lake has been a star for the company since it re-listed on the ASX in February.

Sitting pretty within one of Canada’s prime lithium exploration addresses and having other explorers such as Rock Teck, Imagine Lithium, Ultra Lithium and Green Technology Metals’ (ASX:GT1) – with its 9.9Mt @ 1.04% Li2O flagship Seymour Lake project – for company, the project features historical drilling that returned up to 24.4m at 1.43% Li2O.

Maiden drilling by Battery Age Minerals (ASX:BM8) confirmed this lithium prospectivity, returning  standout intercepts such as 31.75m at 1.45% Li2O from 14.46m and 27.6m at 1.37% Li2O.

Its subsequent summer fieldwork program, which focused on areas outside historical lithium occurrences, proved to be widely successful with rock chip sampling along the Falcon Main area returning grades of up to 2.73% Li2O and confirming a 5km mineralised corridor.

Step-out drilling has also confirmed multiple, thick spodumene-bearing pegmatites across the project area.

The results were more than enough reason for the company to increase the size of Falcon Lake by 69% to 51km2 by picking up the ground between the proven Falcon Main area to Falcon North.

 

Testing high priority targets

BM8 has now started Stage 2 drilling that will focus on the recently discovered step-out zone at Falcon East – where earlier drilling returned an intercept of 19.1m at 1.34% Li2O – and new pegmatite zones within other high priority areas identified during the summer fieldwork program.

This program was designed and prioritised based on results from the program, which include lidar, ortho-imagery, ground magnetics, prospecting, rock chip sampling, and lithogeochemical transects across the Falcon Main tenure.

Drilling will be carried out by the newly formed Rodren Drilling Whitesand First Nation joint venture, a JV between the incumbent drilling contractor, Rodren, and one of the local First Nation groups, Whitesand.

“We’re very excited to get back on the ground to recommence drilling at Falcon Lake,” managing director Gerard O’Donovan said.

“Our summer fieldwork program defined multiple new targets for us to test, and having the drill-bit back in the ground and exploring these high-priority areas represents the important next step in defining the size and scale of the lithium potential at Falcon Lake.”
