• Firetail Resources flags up to 6.75% copper at Skyline project in Canada
  • Assays also returned up to 10.61% zinc and 23.87g/t silver
  • Results boost confidence in project size and scale

Special Report: Firetail Resources’ first drilling has confirmed up to 6.75% copper, 10.61% zinc and 23.87g/t silver at its Skyline copper project in Canada.

Assay results of massive, semi-massive and disseminated sulphides were intercepted in the first drillhole of the maiden 5,000m drill program at the project, confirming at least two distinctive high-grade trends within mineralised corridor.

Best results from drill hole YH24-123 include:

  • 16.07m at 1.58% copper, 2.55% zinc and 5.52g/t silver from 152.0m, including 3.50m at 6.74% copper, 10.61% zinc, and 23.87g/t silver from 153m; and
  • 28.53m at 1.41% copper from 185.66m, including 5.45m at 3.29% copper from 195.15m and 2.36m at 4.24% copper from 206.24m.

The drill intercepts remain open both up and downdip, with assays pending for drilling completed at the YH24-123 hole as the program continues along strike.

Potential boost in size and scale

Firetail Resources (ASX:FTL) says these results further highlight the potential the company sees at the project, as drilling continues to increase scale and confidence at Skyline.

“The rate of progress from starting drilling to having results inside of the first month is a testimony to the high calibre of the exploration team,” managing director and CEO Glenn Poole said.

“We are looking forward to continuing the rapid rate of exploration and news flow to deliver shareholder value.

“The assays received from the first drill hole of our maiden drill program highlight the potential of the mineralised system we have at the Skyline copper project.

“We believe we have identified two very distinct zones of mineralisation indicating multiple mineralising episodes with the currently identified 75m wide ‘mineralised corridor’.

“The hanging wall massive sulphide zone are consistent copper grades, with supporting zinc and silver grades and very low arsenic.

“The second zone is a much broader, copper dominated mineralising event with internal higher-grade zones.”

EM survey

A high-resolution airborne EM survey has been planned across the initial project area which comprises of 16km of prospective geological strike. Blind EM targets defined from this program will be ranked and if warranted drill tested.

“As the drill program progresses, we now have a steady flow of samples in the lab and look forward to keeping shareholders updated as results are returned in the coming weeks.

“We are excited for the weeks and months ahead as the drill bit continues to define and grow the potential of this system.

“In addition, we eagerly await the results of the project wide airborne EM survey which has the potential of identifying further blind massive sulphide targets.”
