High-resolution satellite imagery over Fin Resources’ Cancet West project has identified a number of lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites outcrops prompting further investigation.

Several exploration targets have been generated by training a multivariate statistical classifier on the location of rock chip samples at the Cancet West project in Canada’s prolific James Bay region.

The classifier is a digital fingerprint of the lithium response in the region which was selected due to its location surrounding the project.

Fin Resources (ASX:FIN) says a spectral unmixing of a summer 2022 Sentinel-2 scene has produced two minerals, interpreted as pyrite and spodumene.

These minerals are believed to be spatially correlated with nearly 300 rock chip samples within the region of interest, which were assayed for lithium from the government geochemistry database.

According to FIN, this field work will allow it to evaluate and rank areas of highest prospectivity and verify interpreted pegmatite outcrops with the aim of generating drill ready targets.

Additional 10 claims staked

In conjunction, an additional 10 claims for a total of 510 hectares, covering an area of open ground directly west of Cancet West has been staked and appears highly prospective for LCT pegmatites.

This work was highlighted by Dr Neil Pendock, a consultant engaged by FIN to complete the multispectral analysis.

Compilation of the historical exploration data is now underway which will likely be followed by detailed field mapping, outcrop sampling and geochemical sampling.

These recently defined and highly prospective Lithium targets highlighted within the newly staked ground at Cancet West, appear to be striking parallel to the Lac Guyer Greenstone Belt and will now be ground truthed during the upcoming field season.
