Far East Gold kicks off phase-2 drilling at Woyla with three rigs on the go

The Phase-2 program comprises resource delineation and scout drilling across three of the four main epithermal veins systems (Anak Perak, Rek Rinti and Aloe Eumpeuk) at the Woyla Project.

Resource delineation drilling at Rek Rinti is a step-out drill program focused around the Agam vein, which returned peak assays of 78g/t gold and 631g/t silver.

Meanwhile, the scout drilling program will target areas of interest in Anak Perak and across other vein systems in the tenement that have not yet been drilled.

Standout results

Far East Gold (ASX:FEG) has also received the final assay results from Phase-1 diamond drilling, which returned peak assays for gold and silver in the Rek Rinti prospect area.

Bonanza grades include 4.9g/t gold, 68.6g/t silver over 13m, including 8.1g/t gold, 113.8g/t silver over 7.6m and 78g/t gold , 631g/t silver over 0.5m.

Individual assays from Anak Perak returned a high of 24.91g/t gold and 25.2g/t silver from 53.2m as well as 42.5g/t silver and 2.06g/t gold.

Based on these results, the company believes Woyla is highly prospective.

First company to drill at Woyla

“Not only were we successful in being the first ever company to drill the Woyla project in its 25-year history, but we were also able to build upon the excellent early-stage exploration completed by both Barrick and Newcrest and return bonanza grade gold and silver assays,” FEG CEO Shane Menere says.

“The results from our Phase-1 drill program are extremely encouraging and have given us a very good understanding of the system.”

Looking ahead

The planned Phase-2 drill program will focus on the resource potential of the Rek Rinti and Agam vein intersected in drill hole RRD004, and continued testing of defined vein targets at Rek Rinti and the Aloe Eumpuek prospect as part of an expanded scout drill program.

A few additional holes (roughly four to six) will also test defined target areas within the Anak Perak prospect.
