Luxury-auto maker Mercedes Benz AG has seen battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales increase by 115% to 30,000 units in Q3, more than double the amount in 2021 despite the global economy’s challenging business environment.
A new monthly sales record was broken with 13,000 BEV deliveries for the month, lifted by the EQB electric SUV totalling 3,400 deliveries and the EQE, which recently arrived in China and saw more than 2,000 units sold worldwide.
#MercedesBenz Passenger Cars deliveries reached 517,800 units (+21%) in Q3 – the strongest sales quarter of 2022 so far – even as production and sales continue to be affected by semiconductor shortages and disrupted supply chains. “Overall, global demand for Mercedes-Benz vehicles remains robust, even as energy supply uncertainties in Europe and the ongoing COVID challenges in Asia continue to impact consumer sentiment,” the company said in an announcement on Tuesday.
“Mercedes-Benz is implementing various steps to make its supply chain and production system more resilient, including measures to cut gas consumption with a potential of up to 50% in Germany without impacting production output.
“We are also working closely with its partners along the entire value chain to prepare for various scenarios in the upcoming months.”

35 companies finished in the green, 48 tumbled into the red and 48 fell flat.
LKE’s share price jumped this morning on news of a conditional framework agreement with Korea’s SK On, currently the world’s fifth largest supplier of EV batteries at a capacity of 14.2 gigawatt hours.
With shares in the company up some 89% for the year, LKE says the agreement sees off-take of up 25,000tpa of lithium from the Kachi Project to Sk ON, which translates to roughly 50% of Kachi product.
Importantly, the agreement also sees SK On acquire a 10% strategic investment of LKE, underpinning the development of a clean lithium supply chain to meet the global environmental demands for EVs – particularly in North America.
High grade lithium, up to 2.7% Li2O has been confirmed at Mt Alexander in the first batch of 10 selective rock chip samples submitted for assay.
These high-grade lithium results occur within several stacked pegmatite dykes in a north-south zone extending up to 1.7km, named the Jailbreak Lithium prospect.
SGQ says strong caesium, tantalum and rubidium values are also highly encouraging as they can be associated with significant lithium deposits at depth.
Ongoing field mapping and sampling have extended the interpreted east-west strike length of visible lithium-bearing pegmatites at Jailbreak from 400m up to 1.4km.
Strong results from more than 1,300 soil samples have revealed prospective lithium and gold anomalies at KAI’s Croydon Project in WA with four lithium anomalies in particular showing elevated pathfinder elements of up to 8km long – coincident with mapped pegmatites.
“In light of these results, we are moving quickly to implement follow-up programs of field verification, mapping and drilling,” KAI managing director Dr Peter Turner says.
“It is important to note that the large Croydon Project was pegged for its geological characteristics and potential to host Hemi-style mineralisation – these results attest to its prospectivity not just for gold but for significant lithium mineralisation as well.”
DAF was hammered after lithium drilling at the Chulitna project did not live up to expectations.
Intersections include 16m at 0.19% Li2O from 126.5m, 10.97m at 0.18% Li2O from 84.7m, 27.65m at 0.16% Li2O from 169.6m and 59.5m at 0.13% Li2O from 168.2m.
Drilling has resumed at the first drill hole within the Solaroz Lithium Brine Project after clearing through inter-layered carbonate/sandstone layers encountered at 177m depth.
Packing sampling is currently being undertaken at a depth of roughly 215m before diamond HQ core drilling continues towards the target depth of approximately 300 metres.
High-grade rubidium over 70m thick has been intersected over the King Tamba critical minerals project near Mt Magnet in WA.
The company says multiple broad zones of rubidium mineralisation have been identified across the project area, including an exceptional intersection from drill hole DAL005 totalling 70m at 0.23% rubidium from 82m.
KTA drilled thirty-two RC drill holes for a total of 3045m during May and June targeting a suite of mineralised pegmatites enriched in rubidium, tantalum, caesium, niobium and lithium.
Moving forward, the company intends to complete structural geology modelling and mineral deportment work at King Tamba before finalising a maiden mineral resource estimate later this quarter.
PAM has completed eighteen more infill and extensional drill holes at its Reung Kiet lithium Project in Thailand.
Results continue to support the geological model of extensive lithium mineralisation hosted in lepidolite rich pegmatite dykes-veins and adjacent meta-sediments.
Assay results for holes RKDD062 to RKDD078 are expected in the near term.
