• Diamond drilling has started to test known pegmatitic bodies at newly acquired New Dawn for lithium and tantalum
  • New Dawn is less than 1km away from the 26.5mt Bald Hill mine
  • Project sits on two pre-native title granted mining leases

Red hot explorer Torque Metals has commenced drilling at its New Dawn lithium project in the Eastern Goldfields of WA, just 600m along strike from Bald Hill.

Earlier this month the explorer announced plans to buy a collection of gold, nickel and lithium-rich tenements near its Paris gold camp in the Goldfields.

This includes New Dawn, an untapped lithium and tantalum occurrence just 600m along strike of the established 26.5 Mt at 1% Li2O spodumene Bald Hill lithium and tantalum mine.

The company has an option to acquire 100% of the project, which occupies two pre-native title and granted mining licences, providing ability to fast-track any potential discovery into development.

The news lit a rocket under the $42m capped stock.

To date, Torque Metals’ (ASX:TOR) desktop studies have identified multiple outcropping bearing pegmatites, and multiple rock chip samples collected last month assayed up to 6% Li2O.

2,700m for 22 holes planned

“Torque Metals has swiftly moved onto due diligence drilling at the New Dawn lithium project, to uncover the potential of newly acquired tenements located just 600m west along strike of the Bald Hill mine,” MD Cristian Moreno said.

“The company’s technical team is thrilled to embark on diamond drilling for an initial 2,700m across 22 holes, following previous impressive rock chip samples grading up to 6% Li2O.

“The proposed regional consolidation of Torque’s tenure across 500km2 of the Boulder Lefroy Fault now encompasses promising gold, lithium and nickel prospects, positioning the company as an active mineral explorer.”

The company will report drilling results as soon as practicable and does not anticipate commenting on visual observations from drilling until complete data is understood and verified through assays.
