Errawarra’s maiden diamond drilling has successfully intersected all three priority targets at its Andover West project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region with copper sulphides intersected at two of them.

The copper sulphides were intersected at shallow depths at Target A and B while drilling also indicated the presence of a fertile magmatic copper-nickel-iron mineralised environment at Target A.

Drillhole 23EWDD003, which tested the best conductor at the project, also intersected a 2.8m wide pegmatite dyke.

Errawarra Resources (ASX:ERW) carried out the drilling in three areas where anomalies had been previously identified – as its modelling had (rightly) assumed that the targets will be intersected above a depth of 200m.

Results warrant more work

Project principal consultant Adrian Black said the intersection of significant sulphides of pyrrhotite, pyrite and visible chalcopyrite indicates that a magmatic iron-copper sulphide and potentially nickel-copper-cobalt system exists at Andover West and that more work is warranted.

“Follow-up work with DHEM will further refine the geometry of these conductive bodies and potentially guide a follow-up drill program,” he added.

Executive chairman Thomas Reddicliffe said the company was now looking forward to receiving assay results along with the downhole electromagnetic results, which would potentially point the way to deeper parts of this mineralised system.

“This is a good start that has given us encouragement that we are on the right track and with only one shallow drill hole into Target A that tested 2 of the 3 modelled conductors there remains much to be tested,” he noted.

On trend with other discoveries

The Andover West project is located along strike and part of a mineralised trend that runs through Azure Minerals (ASX:AZS) Andover project.

Notably, the priority drill hole locations are just 1.6km from Azure’s Ridgeline prospect where it reported a 18.2m intersection grading 1.93% nickel including 9.3m at 2.58% nickel.

Hole 23EWDD003 intersected a 37m sulphide mineralisation from a downhole depth of 31.5m hosting observed pods of massive pyrrhotite and heavy disseminations and stringers of pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite within a zone of strong magnetite-chlorite alteration.

The narrow pegmatite intersected from 71.8m will also be assayed for lithium-caesium-tantalum elements.

Meanwhile 23EWDD001 intersected the moderate conductance plate representing Target B from a depth of 141.3m to 151.5m.

Mineralisation observed consisted of magnetite, pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite while textures observed were disseminated to heavily disseminated sulphides and stringers of pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite associated with a magnetite envelope.
