Special Report: Equinox Resources significantly expands surface field work at the wider Campo Grande rare earths project in Brazil after a maiden drill campaign.
Rare earths explorer Equinox Resources (ASX:EQN) is awaiting the assays from drilling at the Rio Negro prospect, part of its giant 1801km2 Campo Grande project.
It counts other ASX explorers such as Gina Rinehart-backed Brazilian Rare Earths (ASX:BRE), as neighbours in the burgeoning Rocha da Rocha REE district in Brazil’s Bahia State.
Brazil – especially Bahia State – has emerged as the new epicentre of rare earth discoveries, with super high grades being uncovered across multiple projects.
EQN MD and CEO Zac Komur and in-country teams conducted field work activities across key prospects within its landholdings in and around BRE’s prospects of Monte Alto, Pele and Sulista projects.
Multiple surface outcroppings were present across the targeted areas including the Rio Negro prospect that are considered highly prospective for high grade hard rock earths.
Outcrops were inspected and hard rock grab samples were collected and sent to the lab for comprehensive assaying.
Rio Negro constitutes only a small proportion of Equinox’s extensive landholding in the region, including coverage of a large proportion of the critical Volta Da Rio Plutonic suite.
Assay results from 156 auger and 3 RC holes drilled to date are due imminently, with the RC holes penetrating hard rock at a depth of ~40m.
New areas have also been identified, containing high thorium anomalies over much of the tenure – a key pathfinder element for high-grade rare earth mineralisation
“It’s great to be back on the ground in Brazil, overseeing the impressive work our exploration team has achieved at Campo Grande,” Komur says.
“Travelling across our extensive tenements, I was struck by the sheer scale of our project – our initial Rio Negro prospect represents just 1% of our total holdings for Campo Grande.
“We have significant work ahead to approach our exploration in a systematic geological manner, ensuring that our investments are targeted wisely and I have full confidence in our geology team and their relentless dedication.
“During my visit, I encountered multiple massive outcrop trendlines across our tenements. These have been sampled, and we are eagerly awaiting the results to strategically plan our next steps.”
